Spring in Christchurch can be extreme. This year has seen gorgeous sunny days followed by torrential rain, and even snow to some parts of Canterbury. When the weather is so unpredictable, it’s a good idea to have a responsive, economical and efficient solutions for your home. What would that look like? With the end of the year fast approaching and businesses across Christchurch winding down, Heat Pumps NOW is tackling the hard-issues and asking the big questions. Like, does Santa really have Wi-Fi?
Save Money and Improve Efficiency by Cleaning Your Heat Pump.Nobody likes paying their power bill. Sadly, we can’t stop them arriving, but we can help make them a little cheaper. Take a deep breath in through your nose and out your mouth. Wonderful. Now trying doing it again with your nose and mouth covered by your hand. You can still breathe, but you have to work a little harder to fill your lungs with air.
Your heat pump is the same. By sucking cold air from outside and blowing hot air inside, the filters and coils of your heat pump can become clogged with dust and dirt. A quick clean every time you do the vacuuming can help your heat pump breathe easier, improving efficiency and adding less to your power bill. Here’s the Heat Pumps NOW guide to cleaning a hi-wall heat pump. It doesn’t matter if your heat pump isn’t the same make and model as this one. This is just a general guide to show you how to clean your hi-wall heat pump. If yours is a low-wall model, don’t worry. We’ll have a guide to help you out soon. In the latest Readers Digest Survey of over 1200 Kiwis from across New Zealand, Mitsubishi Electric was awarded “The Most Trusted Brand in Heat Pumps” for 2015. Well done Mitsubishi!
Heat Pumps NOW are proudly Mitsubishi accredited, and we find Mitsubishi heat pumps are the most popular brand, installing many all over Christchurch. The comments people gave as part of the Readers Digest Survey as to why they love Mitsubishi heat pumps are similar to what we hear every day doing installations. When the big players announced their heat pumps are now Wi-Fi compatible, it seemed at first like an unnecessary extravagance.
Mitusbishi, Fujitsu, and Daikin all have new Wi-Fi capable heat pumps, plus Wi-Fi adaptors you can connect to the older heat pump models. This futuristic technology developed here in New Zealand to deal with even the coldest Christchurch days, helps you stay more comfortable for longer. While at first, Wi-Fi connected heat pumps may seem a bit over-the-top, but they have very practical everyday uses. Heat Pumps NOW are proudly accredited Mitsubishi heat pump installers in Christchurch. But during the past few months we have come across a little customer confusion on a few installations. Mitsubishi Electric offer an impressive range of quality heat pumps, especially designed for New Zealand conditions, and tested for the Christchurch market. But while Heat Pumps NOW have been installing some Mitsubishi GE heat pumps, customers have asked us about their ability to perform at -15 degrees. Heat Pumps NOW - Supporting Our CommunityCantabrians have become pretty good at community. After the earthquakes shook Christchurch we started looking over our neighbour’s fences again and asking, “Are you ok?” If there were problems, we pitched in to lend a hand. We didn't do it for our own gain, but because we knew we were all in the same boat and being there for each other made us stronger. Four years on from those big quakes, we are heartened to see people still pulling together to help someone out, because they believe in what it means to be a community. Lilian Exton is a beautiful and bright 13 year old, about to start year 10 at Avonside Girls High School. Like any teenager, she wants a bit of freedom to go to the mall, hang out with her friends and see a movie. However, Lilian faces more challenges than most with her everyday mobility. She has otospondylomegaepiphyseal dysplasia, an extremely rare disorder affecting her growth and joints. She uses a power chair to help with getting around, but her family currently don’t have a vehicle large enough to transport her chair. This means Lilian’s not able to easily go out with friends, without help from her parents, or older sister Melissa. When Heat Pumps NOW saw how Lilian’s community was helping the Exton family to fundraise for a new car that would be able to transport Lilian's power chair, we wanted to be involved. On Sunday March 29th, a group of regulars from the Endeavour Tavern, the Exton’s local pub, held a fundraising tournament at the Everglades Golf Club. The weather looked a little grey at first, but the clouds gave way to a beautiful sunny day. |
