Heat Pumps NOW... This Was Your Year!

Wow! What a year Heat Pumps NOW has had. We’ve installed, cleaned and serviced hundreds and hundreds of heat pumps all over Christchurch, but we have also done so much more!

A great start to the year, at the opening of Pay it Forward!

Back in March our team was involved in the Opening of the Pay it Forward Community Co-op: a place for Christchurch artisans to display their crafty creations. We installed the ducted air conditioning unit at cost to support this great venture, and also supported two Christchurch artisans who we thought shared the ‘pay it forward’ mantra.

We made a video of that night, and Heat Pumps NOW Director Blair Ashdowne said “Watch this space.” Even he had no idea how much 2015 had in store for Heat Pumps NOW!

Some Interesting Comparisons

​Over the course of the year we have compared ourselves to the Black Caps, the Otago Highlanders, the All Blacks, and even airline Jetstar in our pursuit for excellence. Sometimes the comparisons have seemed like a big stretch, but we feel they show just how serious we are about heat pumps… Or perhaps more accurately, that we like not taking ourselves too seriously.

Extra Cheesy

Speaking of not taking ourselves too seriously, all of Christchurch was buzzing with the news of the Heat Pumps NOW extra cheesy promotion. That video was very cheesy! We had a lot of fun making it, and even more fun giving away free toasted sandwich makers to help people stay extra toasty in winter. Who knows… next winter might get cheesy too!

Heat Pumps NOW Paying it Forward

Heat Pumps NOW continued to pay it forward through the year. We recognized a number of hard-working volunteers whose only desire was to help their community. Heat Pumps NOW got involved with the Exton family to fundraise for an electric wheelchair for Lilian, and had a fantastic time on the golf course and at the Endeavour Tavern fridge raffle.

​With help from Kendal Vehicle Services, we assisted mother-of-five Dannie Batchelor with finding a working car. Getting to work, doing the school run, and weekend trips around Christchurch with the family can be so difficult without your own transport. We simply love making a difference in the lives of others.

The David Awards

Who can forget our surprise when Heat Pumps NOW entered a national competition that recognizes excellence in small-businesses across New Zealand… AND WON! We’re still pinching ourselves! This little team of Christchurch heat pump installers were recognized as the Most Outstanding Fledgling Business, Most Community-Minded Business, and the Overall Supreme David Award Winner for 2015!

As an “Award-Winning Business Owner,” Blair was asked not once, but twice to be a guest judge at high school business competitions. Groups of students create companies, a product or service, and a marketing plan to present to the judging panel. It was a fantastic opportunity for Blair to continue paying it forward, giving feedback and advice to Christchurch’s future business leaders.

Heat Pumps NOW Trip to Auckland

 ​To celebrate everything Heat Pumps NOW has achieved this year, the whole team flew to Auckland for a day. Boy was it a long one. Everyone was at the airport for 5am, we had breakfast at the Butterfly Creek Café, took a ferry across to the North Shore, had a tour on segways, ate far too much, and because our flight was delayed we spent 5 hours waiting in the airport to go home! We didn’t get back into Christchurch until midnight! Whew!
