Kicking off the Rugby World Cup 2015

The 2015 Rugby World Cup has just kicked off, and if you’re anything like the Heat Pumps NOW team you’re still shaking from that down-to-the-wire showdown against France in 2011. Though to be fair, aftershocks may have had something to do with that.

The pressure is now on the All Blacks to repeat their championship performance. But no team has ever defended the World Cup title. No country has ever won the championship back to back. Despite the All Blacks being reigning Rugby World Cup champions, they still have to start from the beginning of the tournament and work their way up to the top.

Previous Victories Count For Nothing

Their last game, their last title, their last trophy won’t count for anything. Despite being the best team in the world in 1999, 2003, and 2007 we didn’t come home with the cup that counted. It didn’t matter about the other test games the All Blacks had won, the test series, the Bledisloe Cups, the Tri-Nations Cups or anything else.  In these situations, all that counts is the game you’re about to play. Each tournament the All Blacks have to start again and take it one game at a time to prove to the rest of the earth we deserve the right to call ourselves World Champions!
