Building a new home in Canterbury? We know there is lots to consider in the early planning stages, but as soon as you can, talk to your builder about hot water underfloor heating. Heat Pumps NOW can work with your new home builder to make sure your next home has energy efficient, discreet, hot water heating throughout your home. Building a new home? Think underfloor heating. While we can retrofit hot water heat pump underfloor heating through renovating an existing home, it’s much easier and less time consuming if you involve Heat Pumps NOW in the new home building process. During the building consultation process, we can sit down with you and your Christchurch builder to go over your ideas and your building plans. Why choose underfloor hot water heating? We know everyone has a budget when building and it may not be possible to include everything on your wish list when planning to build your new home. Here’s why you should prioritise an Ecodan hot water heat pump system. 1) Energy efficiency - Heat pumps are famous for the energy efficient way they convert cold air into hot air to heat your home. The Ecodan hot water heat pump uses similar technology, but instead of heating air, it heats water. Making energy efficient choices in the beginning can save you a lot of money in the long term when running your home. 2) Whole home central heating - Your new home won’t have any hot or cold spots. You won’t need any wall or panel heaters that either recess into the wall or take up valuable living space. With a hot water heat pump underfloor system, you’ll enjoy total comfort all year round. Warm in winter and cool in summer, and all at the push of a button. What a way to future proof your home against some of Christchurch’s harsher elements. 3) No hot water cylinder - That’s right. You don’t need a hot water cylinder. Using electricity to heat up an element that slowly heats up a limited amount of water in a tank is not an energy efficient system. With an Ecodan hot water underfloor heating system, you have a steady supply of hot water always running under your feet. Turn on the tap or switch on the shower, and you have a whole house-load of hot water immediately available. Laying underfloor hot water tubing This process is much easier when building a new home in Christchurch instead of renovating. We don’t need to mark out lines and bring in a concrete cutter. Instead, once your builders have laid the slab, the Heat Pumps NOW team can come through and lay the underfloor hot water tubing on top, and clip it into place on the wire mesh. In some cases, your builder may use a polystyrene slab for the base of your new home. That’s ok. Our underfloor hot water tubing will clip into place just as easily. We’ll follow your building plans to make sure all the areas that need it, like your kitchen and the bedrooms, will have an evenly distributed network of underfloor tubing ready to provide a consistent level of comfort. Future proof your new home These slabs are now ready for the builders to pour concrete over the top, and to prepare the framing for your new home. The Heat Pumps NOW team won’t be needed again until your home is nearly completed and the electricians are coming through to prepare the wiring. That’s when we’ll connect the underfloor tubing to the Ecodan hot water heat pump and get it all ready to go.
When it’s this simple to future proof your home against the cold and high heating bills, why wouldn’t you consider hot water underfloor heating for your new home in Christchurch?
