​You’d hope with a name like “Heat Pumps NOW” that we had heat pumps. Unfortunately, not everyone in Christchurch does. 

It’s a shame to still be talking about COVID-19 in 2021. The truth is, the whole world is still feeling the effects. 

​Heat pumps and shipping delays

​While some countries are still fighting waves of outbreaks and going into lockdowns, the rest of the world is dealing with disrupted shipping. Businesses across Christchurch and New Zealand are facing major challenges bringing stock into the country. 

There’s more competition to get shipping containers, which is driving freight costs up. Some shipping companies are simply dumping all of their containers for New Zealand in one port, and leaving it to the port authority on the ground to sort out what needs to go where.

It’s not ideal, and all types of businesses are impacted, including heat pump installers.

​Are you waiting for a heat pump?

​In light of this national situation, quite a few people are telling us the same story. They’ll get a quote from a heat pump installer, and book a date for installation. The installer will apologise that there’s a delay, but says they’ll definitely install on that date. Just before the agreed date, the installer will call that customer back and apologise that there’s another delay. This can go on for some time. 

Unfortunately, some heat pump installers are selling heat pumps they don’t have, and are crossing their fingers, hoping that they stock they have ordered will arrive in time for it to be installed. In our opinion, that’s not good enough.

​Winter is our busy season

​Will there be a delay between us visiting your home and coming back to install your new heat pump? Yes. Autumn and winter are our busy seasons. As much as we encourage you to get your heating needs taken care of in summer, most of us wait until we feel the cold before taking action. 

Our installers are working flat out to get people prepared for winter, but there are only so many heat pumps we can install in a day. So, there may be a wee wait for you to get your heat pump.

​But, we promise you that WE HAVE HEAT PUMPS! We started ordering heat pumps as soon as we realised there were going to be shipping issues. We have heat pumps, in stock, in our Christchurch warehouse right now. 

So, while you may have to wait for us to come out and install your new heat pump, it will never be because we’re waiting for your heat pump to arrive from somewhere else. If that was the case, we’d tell you it was out of stock, and make alternative arrangements to get you a heat pump we did have.
